Luna hadn't seen snow before.   She tentatively steps out in it but then she quickly turns it into a playground.   She knows how to shred snow!

This is her shelter photo after her rescue by SoulDog from a Navajo Indian Reservation.

We drove to see her in Ft. Lupton and her face had already worked its magic on me.  The clincher was that she was rescued on the day she was to be put down (overcrowding) - June 24th.

We met and brought her home July 19th - one month after Blue left us.

The Rainbow Bridge is Real

It has been a month now that Blue left us for the rainbow bridge.

How quiet the house has been.   How bittersweet to see dog beds and bowls empty.  Of course we remember with a smile, all the times he used them, but now they are empty and tug at our heart. Your collar lies on the edge of your bed.

We know he is still around us.  He made that clear on the day of our anniversary.  We drove to the mountains but he must have came with us.   We think he left us in the week of our anniversary so we'd never forget him - as if we would.

The river running thru the town of our destination was the Blue River.   We took photos near the river sitting on a rock that was grey, white, and black like his fur.    We went to the Christmas store in town where Christmas music played in the background of the store.  About 1 minute into our shopping it struck us that the song had switched to play "Blue Christmas".    Of course we had to get a dog bone shaped ornament that we had personalized as "Blue Without You". 

As we finished up our anniversary dinner, I got a text that Blue's ashes were ready for pick up at the VRCC (emergency vet).  We nodded to each other that he'd want to be home to celebrate.

As we drove down from the mountains, a beautiful rainbow proceeded us and much to our delight, positioned itself over the VRCC sign and building.

OK buddy.   Thanks for showing us that indeed the rainbow bridge is real, our furkids stay with us, and you will always be only a fond thought away.

Remote Churching Makes It "Take your dog to church day"!

I'm counting it as a positive thing that because church services are virtual, I can take my dog to church.  My sweet Blue dog enjoys his tummy rubs and he not ashamed to ask for more.

Grandma’s Coming

Blue will always keep me company as I put on my shoes and socks. Add in telling him that grandma is coming and he is excited. Such a lover boy.

Issue for Blue

In early November, we got confirmation through a blood test that Blue had Cushing disease caused by an Adrenal tumor.   With an added complication that he has sludge in his gallbladder attempted to become a mucocle.   None of this is good news.

He remains a "happy camper", which makes me slower to want to consider treatment that may cause him to decline.

And so, there will be more photos and more videos trying to preserve and capture our time with him.

Our annual pet blessing was a nice event, in spite of the cold weather that blew in.  We held it up close to the church building to shelter from the winds.

Our trip included a stop at Hearts United for Animals (HUA).  This organization rescued Gracie from a Nebraska puppy mill and I’d always wanted to see their operation.  They are an amazing group of people.

We had breakfast and shared some with Blue.  We discovered  that he prefers to drink out of the bottle. Who knew? It’s been good to be on this trip together and enjoying each other‘s company.

We are adjusting to being a one dog house for now.   I'll keep my eyes / heart open but for now, we are going to enjoy our Blue dog.
